Does your school or league take the
time to talk to parents about concussions? Is there a head injury awareness
session before each season or are we just being too nervous?

I don't think so...studies I've seen show that, depending on the sport, anywhere from 10-15 percent to half of all youth athletes suffer at least one concussion a season while playing contact sports. I didn't learn this from my son's coach, the school, or the league.

I didn't learn this from my son's coach, the school, or the league.Frankly, it was from an e mail MomsTeam newsletter about four years ago. Thank you and thank you to Brooke de Lench for coming to CA to talk at the National Sports Concussion Summit where I learned even more.
i DID NOT LEARN IT FROM A COACH OR SCHOOL EITHER.I learned it from my 14 y/o who suffered a concussion during a football game. Everyone should go to espn.com and type in second impact syndrome.then click on the video where the athlete from n.c. died. This is a must see for every parent.
