Group will develop guidelines for diagnosis and management of mild traumatic brain injury

MomsTEAM's expert sports concussion neuropsychologist Rosemarie Scolaro Moser, Ph.D. [1], has been named by the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) to its Pediatric Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Panel of Experts.  Rosemarie Scolaro Moser, Ph.D.

According to the CDC, the purpose of the panel is to "to develop clinical guidance for the acute diagnosis and management of mild traumatic brain injury among children and adolescents."

Formation of the committee was announced by Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D. N.J.) and Senator Robert Menendez (D. N.J.).  Pascrell told USA Today [2] that "The CDC will convene a panel of experts to define the scope of the protocol, review existing literature, review the current state of science on concussions and have protocols ready for distribution by fall of 2014.

Dr. Linda C. Degutis of CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control told USA Today that, "CDC's new initiative on pediatric guidelines will work to improve diagnosis and management of brain injuries in younger children and teens who are injured on or off the playing field."

MomsTEAM congratulates Dr. Moser for being named to the CDC panel!
