YouthSportParent’s, Dr. Robert Cantu, offers the following advice to parents on concussion management and evaluation:

  • If their child's post-concussion signs or symptoms [2] have not cleared within a week, he should be seen by a physician if he has not seen one already;

  • If the number of their child's post-concussion signs or symptoms are increasing or they are increasing in severity, he should definitely be considered for an MRI or CT scan to rule out a blood clot or brain lesion; and

  • If post-concussion signs persist for more than 10 days, an evaluation by a concussion specialist should be sought.
