Swimming: Pronunciation: \?swim\
the act, art, or sport of one that swims and dives
Swimming is a fun way to not only cool of in the summer heat, but also to get fit. Swimming is one of the lowest-impact sports that burns the most calories, while keeping the body supported by water, therefore placing less stress on joints and bones. Recreational swimming is the most common form, performed by people of all ages.
Since most children want to swim outside for recreational purposes during the summer, it is good for parents to sign them up for swimming lessons, not only so that they can learn how to swim, but also so that they learn the importance of water safety. After children have had swimming lessons, if they want to become competitive, most local towns have youth teams and competitions.
MomsTeam's goal is to provide comprehensive information on swimming: advice on the equipment needed and how to buy it, a primer on the rules of the sport, and videos and advice from experts, parents, and manufacturers of swimming gear.
But to do that we are going to need your help. If you are a parent of a child who swims or has swam, we hope you will share what you have learned with other MomsTeam parents. Please consider writing a blog, contributing an article, posting on and/or hosting a Forum, or becoming a swimming expert. If you know of someone who used to swim or coach skateboarding who has knowledge to share, ask him or her to join. Together we can make MomsTeam a true community of sports parents!
