Helmets

Similar to ski helmets, snowboard helmets are comprised of a partially ventilated hard plastic outer shell, dense foam inner shell, a chin strap and insulating material to keep the head warm. Snowboard helmets leave enough room for a pair of goggles to be placed over them. Snowboard helmets should cover the forehead, ears and the back of the head completely and should fit securely and comfortably on the rider.
Snowboarding: Pronunciation: \-?bo?rd\
a board resembling a wide ski and ridden in a surfing position downhill over snow

Snowboarding is a thrilling sport that requires speed, balance, and agility. This sport requires a lot of skill because after first learning how to snowboard, the next step is to learn the tricks of the trade: airborne jumps, flips, and turns.

Snowboarding was developed in the US in the 1960's and became a Winter Olympic Sport in 1998. Snowboarding, as exhilarating as it is, is also considered to be a high speed extreme sport and protective gear should be worn at all times, whether your child is a beginner or advanced (show them how even professionals wear helmets and gear now!)

MomsTeam's goal is to provide comprehensive information on snowboarding: advice on the equipment needed and how to buy it, a primer on the rules of the sport, and videos and advice from experts, parents, and manufacturers of snowboarding gear.

But to do that we are going to need your help. If you are a parent of a child who snowboards or has snowboarded, we hope you will share what you have learned with other MomsTeam parents. Please consider writing a blog, contributing an article, posting on and/or hosting a Forum, or becoming a snowboarding expert. If you know of someone who used to play or coach snowboarding who has knowledge to share, ask him or her to join. Together we can make MomsTeam a true community of sports parents!
