To empower local families to make healthier life choices, Stop & Shop is hosting its third "Healthy Kids Summit" at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts from 2 to 4 p.m on Monday, October 22, 2012.
Joining Stop & Shop for this free event will be community health experts from the Hockomock Area YMCA, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and a special guest appearance by New England Patriots Safety Patrick Chung.
The event will begin with a highly interactive 30-minute panel discussion and audience trivia game incorporating key facts on nutrition, exercise and a balanced lifestyle along with simple tips and techniques to stay fit.
The panel will be moderated by Julie Menounos, RD, LD-N, Stop & Shop's first in-store nutritionist, and will include tips from New England Patriots Safety Patrick Chung, Ed Hurley, president of the Hockomock Area YMCA and Julianna Valcour, RD, Med, school nutrition policy consultant for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The panel session will be followed by an energetic obstacle course on the field along with a health fair including healthy snacks and refreshments.
The event is free, and is open to all families, schools, caregivers, community organizations and media. Attendees are encouraged wear warm, comfortable clothing.
