Allison Maurer

Allison is a board certified specialist in sports dietetics, and certified strength and conditioning specialist at the University of Tennessee, where she oversees performance nutrition for student-athletes. She is Vice President/Treasurer of the Collegiate and Professionals Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA), and a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) as well as the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). As part of her duties for the Volunteers, she conducts team and individual nutrition sessions, grocery-shopping tours, and operates a nutrition area called the “fueling station.” Allison is responsible for meal planning for the Volunteer's football and women’s basketball teams, and works closely with Team ENHANCE and Team EXCEL in counseling about disordered eating. She conducts body composition testing for various sports teams and educates athletes on how to fuel to improve body composition. Allison is responsible for budgeting and ordering NCAA-compliant nutritional supplements for all sports, and provides pre-workout fuel and post-workout recovery advice for UT athletes, and works to ensure that their training table provdes them the best nutrition. She also oversees various protocols related to the health of the student-athletes. Allison teaches two undergraduate nutrition classes, which are geared for male and female athletes looking to improve their performance through food, hydration and recovery. Prior to her appointment at the University of Tennessee, Allison was the Sports Dietitian and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She received her bachelors of science degree in dietetics from Olivet Nazarene University and her master’s degree in nutrition from Georgia State University.
