Should coaches at any time in any sport be in the showers at the same time showering with the athletes after practice in the locker room? I am talking high school aged boys. Also, what should be done about an asst. coach who is at a weekend tournament with his team of boys at the hotel room but leaves to go to a bar and drink then comes back and stays in the same room with them? What should be tolerated and what should not. I have had parents give very mixed opinions on this issue. Some think its ok because the boys are old enough to understand the coach going out and they are still there with the head coach. Please give me your opinions on this as well as...........if a coach has any kind of arrest record for domestic violence or public intoxication, disorderly conduct is there any reason to excuse those and allow him to continue to coach.
No showering, no sharing room, no criminals
Under NO circumstances should a coach be permitted to shower with his or her athletes. The assistant coach should not be allowed to drink and then share a room with his athletes. He shouldn't be in the same room with them at all. All of the crimes you list suggest that the coach should not be coaching youth athletes. Why are there no chaperones on these trips? Your questions raise so many red flags and the potential for sexual abuse that it is difficult to know where to start pointing out what's wrong with these situations.
