I feel you have to look at your child and see how it affects them with Mom or Dad coaching. I was very fortunate in that my son and daughter was fine with me coaching and (luckily) they were one of the better players. This allows you to set the tone with the team as far as intensity and work habits. If you have a child who is embarassed with their parent as a coach, probably not a good thing for the team.
As far as a fear, I think if you coach and your own kid is not very skilled, it would be very difficult to treat them the same as everyone.
