I am so tired of watching my son dissolve into tears when he realizes that he really isn't considered good enough to play equally, when he sees that he is at the bottom of the batting order AGAIN, that he is punished for missing a practice even when his father is in the hospital.
In our town, we seem to have a real problem with the coaching in our little league and it has started to get a bit of press in the local paper. I am actually thinking of writing a column and submitting it to one of the news magazines.
Mainly, I wanted to say thank you; you've pulled me out of my despair for today; but also, do you have any ideas about directions I could go to obtain more information about this perspective on youth sports? Thank you again.--

Second class person
This is a problem at most little league parks. It is few and far between that you find a coach that with work with all the kids and not just their kids and friends.
My daughter as been going through this also. Within a week after she made the U12 travel softball team she had broke her finger playing soccer and was in a cast for three weeks. Well this is a new coach for her and he put her in the outfield and bottom of the batting order has left her there all season and no matter what she did, would he consider her in a different position. He even had the U10 girls pitch in a scrimage before he used her. She has been very discouraged playing this year and has given up trying to do well. I keep telling her that school ball will be different but I don't think she is hearing me. At one time she was a real good player. I too am a bit discouraged with all the politics that come with softball. About two weeks ago he even told her that he could not play her in a position because he did not want her finger hurt. She had been cleared by the Dr at this time for about 2 months.
I am thinking of finding another team in a different area for her to play on but with her giving up I am not sure this is a good idea. Any suggestion for the both of us?
Thank you for letting me vent.
I am in the same vote but backing my son, the ____'s do not
Deserve the satisfaction. My son is even getting it as school and I am contacting them tomorrow. Ask your daughter if she is up for the fight, let her know it part of life to be respectfully agressive when you care about something. Have her make the choice, but please report the coachs and parents to the local school and leauge plus community organization. Our kids need our eyes open and are voices heard, until thiers are strong enough.
God bless

daughter has cancer--playing ability isn't affected
Our daughter has gone a round with cancer in the last year--just as she entered high school volleyball...her health is good but we do travel away fairly often for scans and care which creates alot of misinformation and gossip about her status. Our daughter's coaches are under tremendous pressure to play some of the girls who have insistant parents, regardless of their child's ability. They seem to cave to this pressure and the result is that our daughter sits and her "perceived" health is used as a convenient excuse. The team is suffering by all this--not just our daughter.
Does anyone have experience with a child w/disability or illness? Anyone here who has sought a legal remedy? How would we go about this?
BTW--we have the same coaches for school and club ball. It's a small town. The athletic director is one of our coaches dearest friends so we have no recourse there.
Who are the oversight entities for high school sports beyond my town? How do I figure out who these are for club?
Thanks for any advice...appreciate
