Many schools are eliminating school sports due to budget cuts. How much do you spend on user fees? Is there a family discount? Do you pay for these or does your child?

Here in the South West suburbs of Chicago Illinois they charge. At least in the district I teach in and in the one my kids attended school in. At my school I think we started out at around $50 per sport played and have gone up to, I think, $100 per sport. We paid about the same for my kids to play.
Yes, there are many schools who are cutting back or eliminating sports because of money. Schools really need to change the way they operate. They need to run like a business. There is alot of fat that can be trimmed from school budgets. Sports play a very important roll in the educational process and can galvanize a community.
Even sports programs can cut back in areas. Why is there a need for a full dark and light colored basketball uniforms? They can cost over $100 per set (top and shorts). A reversible jersey and regular gym shorts could be purchased for as little as $30 per set. For a total of 12 uniforms (light and dark) you could save about $2,000. This is just one example.

yes this seems like a good idea, two soccer games in a day can be pretty grueling but maybe then the next saturday there would be no games and time to rest? Carpooling and doubleheaders seems to make sense to me if overuse injuries are taken into account.
Our school system has a pay-to-play fee of $125. Jerseys are provided, but the girls buy their own spandex shorts, socks, knee pads, ankle braces, warm-up suits and sneakers for volleyball. Students are required to go to games on the school bus. I suspect we will see a lot more carpooling this year, even with parents going to away games.
I think in the future, you'll see more private clubs take over sports. Schools will eventually not be able to afford the bus trips, uniforms and liability insurance to fund athletics. It's too bad because many kids will be left out due strictly to finances.
Yep, we charge in my district & in the district my kids attend

Bus trips?
I wonder what all those away games are costing the schools? With the price of gas raising is there a way around this?
