I think it is pretty normal but there seems to be no normal gift

In the past the coaches would get plaques. We changed it up this year. They went to Target and bought some nice knit shirts and had our names embroidered on them with the Team Name and year. It was really nice for a change.

We give our Team Mom a dozen roses at the end of the year team party every year.

normal but not always

For the first time ever I refused to put money into a coaches gift. My sonwas treated very badly and in fact three families refused to put money in this year.

Cash is King

My husband will take that gift certificate or dinner voucher before anything. Of course I love to have him get them too.

MY FAVORITE GIFT

The kids on my team know that I love ice cream cones. So each boy gave kicked in about 3 bucks and bought me a book of

Signed items

are great! We love our collection of signed baseballs, footballs, bats and hats. We are reminded of the kids...

a cool idea

a cool idea is to go to www.stickyfan.com and download a team photo and have it made into an adhesive, reusable "sticky" that the coach can put anywhere - car window, office wall, etc. They are not expensive and also make great end of year player gifts.

yes the team signed balls

yes the team signed balls and photos are a great idea. The "sticky" idea is pretty neat too. The topic of not getting a bad coach was raised, I agree, why should we give gifts to someone who treated our kids poorly? This is not usually the case, however, and in my experience coaches are usually fantastic and deserve a little something at the end of the season.

Bits and Pieces on Leadership

We gave my daughter's high school coach a subscription to "Bits & Pieces" magazine. He loves motivational and inspirational stories and quotes and this was perfect. I'd love to hear more ideas for coaches of older kids.

Here's a description: Bits & Pieces on Leadership delivers quotes, stories, and commonsense examples to clearly illustrate how to become an effective leader. It entertains, motivates, and offers valuable insights into the art of managing people, working with people, and getting along with people. http://www.motivateandinspire.com

Here's something I've found that's unique and easy!

Every season it seemed like I was doing the same thing -- stuck with a gift certificate and card. YUCK!! At the end of basketball season this year, I was determined to find something different.

SUCCESS! www.bestcoachgifts.com We ordered the coach clipboard and custom "game ball". Each family only had to pitch in about $8.00! Coach loved it so much and said he's never received anything so neat in all of his years coaching.

Anyway, try it!! It's easy to order and absolutely awesome. I will order again after baseball season. Good Luck!
